Temples in Thailand are an attraction on their own, and they are worthy stops during your trip to the Asian country.

In the second leg of our Indochina trip, we managed to squeeze in a few hours for visiting temples in Chiang Mai before flying to Bangkok. With our huge backpacks in tow, we just walked around the city center and visited some of the temples we previously listed in our itinerary.

However, we only managed to visit three temples which were near each other. 😀 It turns out we need more practice on how to literally backpack; it was difficult to go around carrying huge bags under the scorching heat of the sun. 😀 Our time was also limited because we still had to catch our flight to Bangkok on the same day.

Meanwhile, in Bangkok, I just tagged along Joseph and Dee as they explored Grand Palace and Wat Pho for the first time. I’ve visited the two temples last year as part of my birthday trip, and I was hoping to check out Wat Arun this time. Unfortunately, I still didn’t get to do so because the temple was under construction during our visit.

Though Chiang Mai and Bangkok temples both feature amazingly intricate details, they’re still different from each other. While the Bangkok temples will dazzle you with their golden and glittering embellishments, the ones in Chiang Mai have a more ancient design like Wat Lok Molee.
Here’s a gallery/slideshow of the Thailand temples: Wat Lok Molee, Wat Chiang Man and Wat Rachamontian in Chiang Mai, and Grand Palace, Wat Phra Kaew, and Wat Pho in Bangkok. Included also are some random pics from our Thailand trip. 🙂
