The Sumptuous Zubuchon Lechon in Cebu

Zubuchon is one of the famous must-try restaurants in Cebu because of its extraordinarily delicious lechon. I specifically asked my office mates to include Zubuchon in our itinerary so we would know what the fuss is really about.

We almost missed the chance of trying it though because we thought we wouldn’t find any Zubuchon branch open till late at night on a Sunday. We were supposed to arrive early in Cebu but we didn’t because our Air Asia flight was delayed three times. (Yes, I’ll repeat that over and over again :P)

This lechon is beyond compare.

Thanks to our Skywalk guide though, Kuya Bjorn, we found out that there was a Zubuchon branch that’s open until the wee hours of the morning in IT Park in Lahug where most call centers are. Because we were too tired and hungry (our last decent meal was back in NAIA), we took a cab to IT Park so we could enjoy a sumptuous feast after a long day.

The cab driver didn’t know where exactly Zubuchon was in the IT park though, so we had to look for it. And yes, I was the one who spotted the window with the red pig on it. Haha.

We were lucky enough to enjoy the last lechon the restaurant had in stock for the day, which was the boneless lechon. I’m afraid my words are not enough to describe how amazing it is.

I’ve never tasted such delicious lechon. The flavor was perfect – not too salty but not bland either. I especially loved the crispy skin; in fact, it was mostly what I ate. Haha. It’s good even without the sauce; I think it’s better without it. 😀 The company also claims that it does not use MSG in its lechon which makes it even better. 😀

After doing the Skywalk and while waiting for our lechon. Hungry and tired but still able to smile. :D

That feast (in the truest sense of the word) is the perfect way to cap the night, right after the Skywalk adventure. 🙂

Little trivia: I loved the lechon so much that I bought Zubuchon’s frozen, packed lechon which costs Php 620 (one kilo) at their stall in Mactan airport to take home to Manila. Even days after our Cebu trip, I was still longing for the taste of Zubuchon lechon which prompted me to actually buy lechon here in Manila for lunch one day (from one of the famous lechon dealers in Manila) only to be disappointed because nothing really compares to Zubuchon.
