First Day in Cebu: Skywalk Adventure

Iloilo was supposed to be our last beach trip for the first half of the year because 1) rainy season is here which pretty much ruins beach trips 2) I wanted to at least take a break from traveling and save up for the next trip on December.

However, a kaladkarin that I am (meaning I typically say yes to anyone who invites me to go somewhere), I accepted an officemate’s invitation to go to Cebu in August.

The initial plan was to take a short Cebu City tour during the late afternoon upon arrival in the city. But thanks or no thanks to Air Asia Zest, our flight was delayed three times(!), so we arrived in Cebu at around 8pm already.

Because we lost so much time already, we decided to find a place to sleep for the night first and then proceeded to Crown Regency Hotel for the Skywalk adventure. The Cebu City tour had to be pushed to our third day — again, due to lack of time.

The Skywalk Experience

It was a very good thing that the Skywalk adventure in Crown Regency closes at 12 midnight. When we got there, there was only one group doing the Skywalk and we didn’t have to wait long after we changed into our orange suits (which is supposedly inspired by the dancing inmates in Cebu, according to our guide).

While it was my first time in Cebu, it was my second time to do a Skywalk adventure; I first tried it in Macau during my birthday. 😀 While they’re basically the same, Skywalk in Cebu only entailed three “stunts” or “poses,” two of which are group pictures, unlike in Macau where they ask you to do daring (meaning scary!) stunts for the sake of pictures. Haha.

No cameras or cellphones are allowed once you’re out on the Skywalk, but they have an official photographer to take your pictures.

So how was the experience?

It’s not that terrifying as one would think because all we had to do was walk around while our guide shared various info about Cebu and pointed at the different sections of the city. I guess the most nerve-wracking part is when each of us had to pose toward the edge of the “Skywalk” with our one foot up.

The cables usually get stuck too while you’re walking, which is somehow scary as well. Haha. Our guide’s antics of pretending to suddenly fall off while he was discussing something made us girls shriek a couple of times too. 😛

Each one in the group had to do this pose.

I guess what I loved most about it is the view of the city from the 37th floor of the tower. I loved how the city glowed with its seemingly endless lights under the stars. I especially loved how the circle leads to the capitol, forming a guitar (according to our guide, but more like a banjo actually), which is one of the things Cebu is famous for.

Cebu City at night: see how the circle leads to the capitol, forming a banjo. Amazing.

After the “adventure”, we went up to the viewing deck of the tower to soak up the view of the city lights and took endless pictures here and there until we were too hungry to function anymore. :))
